Frequently Asked Questions

1.) What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

The human anatomy of a male and female is designed for union and procreation to fulfill God’s perfect plan on Earth. God’s first command to humanity was given in Genesis 1:28, God tells Adam and Eve to “be fruitful and multiply” (procreate). God ordained for sex to be between one man and one woman, under His institution of marriage. Scripture clearly condemns any sexual practice with the same gender or outside of the marriage bed. (1 Timothy 1:8-10, Romans 1:26-28, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Jude 1:7, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Hebrews 13:4).

2.) Was I born this way?

Every human was created in the perfect image and likeness of God, but because of the sins of Adam and Eve, everyone on this Earth was born into a sinful and fallen world. Meaning, God did not purpose you to identify as LGBTQIA+, but the sinful nature of this world makes everyone prone to sin. That’s why when Christ came, He commanded that we must be “born again” into a new life and redeemed by God through Him (John 3:3). To be “born again” means to die to your sinful ways and become a new creation in Christ. Scripture says that before we were formed in our mother’s womb, God knew us (Jeremiah 1:5). In other words, before you became a fetus in your mother’s womb, God had already planned a perfect will over your life; and that perfect plan does not include a lifestyle of sin (Ephesians 1:4).

3.) Does God love me?

Yes! Romans 5:8 says “Even while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!”. So if anyone has told you any different, it is a lie. However, God loving us is different from Him approving of our sinful lifestyles. He is a good Father, therefore out of His love for us He must tell us the truth and correct us when we are wrong (Hebrews 12:6). God is not looking forward to sending sinners to Hell. Scripture says that it’s not God’s will to see anyone perish in Hellfire but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Serving God is a choice that He can’t choose for you, but He is so gracious and loving to warn us that living a sinful lifestyle will keep us from an eternity with Him in Heaven.

4.) Can I be a gay Christian?

Being a Christian means to be a disciple or follower of Christ. Jesus said in Luke 9:23, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” To “take up your cross daily” means dying to your sinful ways everyday the same way Christ died for you. The Bible says that those who profess to be a Christian must depart from ALL iniquity, including LGBTQIA+ (2 Timothy 2:19). The word “Christian” is not a mere title, but rather a lifestyle. Scripture also states that you cannot serve two masters, you have to choose one. Therefore, since the activity of the LGBTQIA+ community is forbidden by God, you cannot claim that lifestyle and Christ at the same time.

5.) If God loves me why doesn’t He just accept me for who I am?

Many in today’s society have a wrong perspective on what true love is. Love is not approval. Jesus loves you and will accept you with open arms no matter what type of sins you’ve indulged in, but He will not approve of your sin. A true relationship with Christ results in change (Luke 3:8).

Here are 3 ways The Bible defines love.

1.) Love is sacrifice- “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us” (1 John‬

2.) Love is action- “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John‬

3.) Love is obedience- Jesus said “those who love me will follow my commandments” (John 14:15).

God’s standard that He’s placed in His Word is love in itself, because it protects us from harming our soul, body and mind; which is exactly what sin does. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “follow your heart”, but Scripture tells us our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked (Jeremiah‬ 17‬:

6.) Why did God give me these desires?

God does not give anyone sinful desires nor does He tempt anyone with evil. There’s times where our human body is inclined to commit actions that are completely contrary to the Word of God (Galatians 5:16-17). In order for you to abstain from sin and fulfill the will of God, you need the Holy Spirit (Spirit of God) dwelling inside of you; and you can receive that by placing your faith in Jesus (Acts 5:32). The Bible says in James 1:13, “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after that desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” Eve found the fruit desirable but it was forbidden by God (Genesis 2:2-3). Identically, that same scenario can be compared to someone who is involved in the LGBTQIA+ community or any other sin.

7.) Wasn’t the Bible written by man?

The Bible was written by flawed men who, when writing the Scriptures, wroteunder the unction of the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God). The Spirit of God in itself is perfect, so therefore there is no error in the Word of God. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that “ALL Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

8.) Doesn’t the Bible say “judge not”?

Many take the verse “Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matthew 7:1) out of context and fail to acknowledge what Jesus truly meant. If you read a few more verse down, Jesus was addressing the hypocrisy of judging someone else’s sin while doing the same exact thing. That’s why in verse 5, Jesus goes on to call them “Hypocrites! FIRST, get rid of the mote out of your own eye, THEN you will see clearly to take the mote out of your brothers eye”. Accountability is needed within the body of Christ; Christians are called to righteously judge and correct each other (John 7:24). While we are not called to judge non believers in Jesus, we love them enough to preach to them the truth of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 5:12-13, Colossians 4:5-6, Mark 16:15). Even Scripture says “How will the world hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14).

9.) Will I go to Hell if I stay the same?

Scripture states that anyone who practices a lifestyle outside of His Word will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. (Galatians 5:19-21, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Hebrews 12:14). God’s will is to see no one perish in Hell, but for all to come to repentance by choosing Him over your sinful pleasures (2 Peter 3:9). God loves us so much that He gave us His only son (Jesus); that whoever repents and places their faith in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

10.) Why does the church seem so loveless towards me? Is there a difference between LGBTQIA+ and other sins?

Unfortunately, there are some people of the Body of Christ who do not emulate the character and love of Jesus. God loves the sinner, but He hates sin. Likewise, God loves the individuals of the LGBTQIA+ community, but He hates the activity they condone in. Although there are different severities of sin, there is no sin God cannot forgive you of (1 John 1:9). The practice of any sin, small or great, leads to eternal torment in Hell. The love of Christ in a Christian compels them to spread the truth of the Bible, in love, with an unbeliever (Ephesians 4:15). The truth determines, based on your lifestyle on Earth, where your final destination will be (Heaven or Hell). Friends, it’s up to you to decide where you wanna go.

11.) Will my same-sex desires go away if I give my life to Christ?

It is possible for your same-sex desires to completely go away after accepting Christ, and there are many testimonies of God diminishing these demonic impulses. However, temptation is not a sin. The Bible says that God gives us a way out of each and every temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). It’s what you do while being tempted that make your actions sinful or not (James 1:13). Even Jesus was tempted but He did not sin (Matthew 4:1). It’s either you abstain or entertain sexual sin, and when you entertain sexual sin you give demons an open door to oppress your mind. The Holy Spirit, which a person receives when accepting Christ, is there to help transform you daily through the renewing of your mind by reading the Bible, praying, fasting etc. (Romans 12:2).

12.) Where in the Bible did Jesus himself speak on homosexuality?

Believing that the words of Jesus hold a greater authority than the rest of Scripture shows that there is a lack of understanding the identity of Jesus. John 1:1-3 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.” Later on in verse 14 the Bible says, “And the Word became flesh”. Jesus is God and He is the Word of God Himself. All things were made through Him, He is our Creator! Every word in Scripture is inspired by God, meaning, every word in Scripture is JESUS speaking. This includes passages where homosexual behavior is clearly condemned.

Another reason to believe Jesus was clearly against homosexuality is because he was a Jew following the Mosaic law; and this is before He established the new covenant. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill”.  Jesus was accused of breaking the mosaic law several times by the Pharisees, but He was only breaking their man-made traditions. To say Jesus broke the Mosaic Law is to say He sinned and in that case he couldn’t have been our Messiah.

Jesus spoke on godly marriage in Matthew 19:3-6. He understood that the act of uniting as “one flesh” (sex) under God is between a man and a woman, just as it was in the beginning. Culture may change, but God does not change(Hebrews 13:8, Malachi 3:6).

Jesus actually does address homosexuality in Mark 7:21-22 “For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, SEXUAL IMMORALITY, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.” The greek word for “sexual immorality” is “porneia” which is a term that includes several sexual sins, including homosexuality. The 1st century church understood homosexual acts was a sin.

To assume Jesus approved of same sex marriage because He never explicitly mentioned it or at least we don’t see it recorded in the Bible is presumptuous. John 21:25 says “Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.”

13.) Are Christians who approve of same sex marriage wrong in their views?

Christians who believe that same sex marriage is not a sin are deceived and not following the Word of God. It doesn’t matter if they are a pastor, friend, or parent, the Bible warns of such times that we are living in now in 2 Timothy 2:4. The Scripture states, “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound (biblical) teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” The Bible strongly warns us that not only those who practice sin are deserving of Hellfire, but also those who approve of them (Romans 1:32).

14.) Why must I stop sinning if Jesus died for my sins?

God’s graceful gift of salvation through Jesus is not a license for us to sin but rather a ticket to freedom. As Christians, we no longer have to be controlled by our sinful nature but now we are able to have a new life controlled by the Holy Spirit. God’s grace is not a a license to sin. In Romans 6:15-23 Scripture warns those who have a “let’s continue to sin because we are under grace” mindset. He explains that you can be free in Christ and still choose to live in bondage, and we know that anyone who practices sin will not enter the kingdom of Heaven (Galatians 5:19-21, 1 Corinthians 10:9-10)

15.) Will God accept me even if I’ve already transitioned/sex change?

YES! Nobody is never “too far gone” for God’s grace to reach them. Jesus was known and criticized by the Pharisees for sitting down with tax schemers, prostitutes, and other sinners. When questioned on why He was doing that, Jesus answered to them “Healthy people don’t need a doctor; sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but for those who know they are sinners and need to repent” (Luke‬

No matter what you’ve done in your past, you are redeemable through thesacrificial blood of Jesus to be forgiven and to be a new creation full of life (2 Corinthians 5:17). There are many testimonies of those who have already altered their sex but later found Christ.

16.)What if my future spouse in Christ does not want me because of my past?

Desiring marriage is a good thing, because it is covenant that represents the love Jesus has for His church. Being transparent with your potential future spouse is important. Have faith that the person God has for you will love you and see you no different then God sees you. After all, the Bible says “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance” (1 Corinthians‬

17.) What if I don’t ever see myself married to the opposite sex? Will I be alone forever?

With Jesus we are never alone, marriage is ultimately a choice. Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 7:8-11 that there is a gift in being single just as there is in being married. Friends, seek intimacy outside of romantic relationships. Build Godly friendships who can edify you through your walk with Christ. The best covenant you can have is with Jesus!

18.) If God is a good God, then why does He allow evil? We can agree this world is full of evil, but why doesn’t God just stop it if He has the power to?

God has given every human free will, but unfortunately we have a propensity to sin. If God controlled us as robots it defeats the purpose of us choosing to have a relationship with Him. Jesus died for those He knew wouldn’t love Him back (John 14:15). In the midst of such a fallen world is where the good news of Jesus comes in! We can find hope and a freedom in Christ, not only in this life but also in the life to come. No matter what you’ve been through, God has a sovereign way of turning a tragedy into a testimony where His name can be glorified through us. After Jesus had healed a demon possessed man in Mark 5:19 He commanded him to “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” Your testimony, to come, is going to be God’s way of using you as a vessel to win more souls to Heaven.

19.) How do I know the Bible isn’t corrupted?

Prophecy and history support the infallible truth of Scripture. There are numerous prophecies throughout the Bible that have been fulfilled, and are still being fulfilled till this day. Historical evidence and artifacts also demonstrate the accuracy of Scripture. There is not one Biblical character or story that has been proven to be false. For example, artifacts of Sodom and Gomorrah, Noah’s Ark, Israel and many other historical proofs tha prove the inerrancy of Scripture. When looking at present state of society, there are numerous verses foretelling the times we’re currently living in (2 Timothy 3:1-5, 2 Peter 3:3-4, 1 Timothy 4:1-2, Matthew 24: 36-44)

20.) What do I have to do to be saved?

Before knowing how to be saved you need to understand what you need to be saved from. We all have sinned, and sin separates us from God (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:2). Because God is righteous, He must judge righteously. Romans 6:23 tells us our sins make us deserving of eternal torment in Hell. Jesus came once to save the world but one day, very soon, He will return for a second time to judge. The Bible says in 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 that on that day “He will come “in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News (Gospel) of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.” The consequences of our sin lead us to eternal destruction.

Because God is a Holy God, He could not simply “over-look” the sins of this world; He abhors sin. Jesus took our place of punishment on the cross of Calvary so we can be made right with God. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins” (Romans‬

This is where that verse that everyone has heard plays in, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John‬

Now that you recognize you are a sinner in need of a Savior, confess your sins to the Lord. Scripture says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). The Bible also states “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans‬

Go and sin no more for you are free! This decision requires you to abstain from sin and live a set apart (holy) life from the world.

All you must do to be saved is place your faith and believe in the Lord Jesus, God has already done the rest! Believe that through Jesus sacrifice on the cross you can be forgiven from all sins and through the Holy Spirit have the power to live a holy life for Him.
